As part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve mountaineering infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Via Dinarica, in cooperation with its long-term partner—the Mountaineering Association “Prenj – Glogošnica 1979” from Jablanica—has carried out the restoration and marking of a new section of the Via Dinarica White Trail above Jablanica, in the area of Prenj Mountain.
The new route leads from Jablanica, along a local road above the Neretva Canyon, through the village of Glogošnica and the site “Čatrnja/Bunar” (960 meters above sea level), all the way to the mountain hut “Međuprenje” — which is located at the foot of the impressive peaks “Izgorjela gruda” (1860 meters) and “Cetina” (1992 meters). The section is 11 kilometers long and offers a safe, stable, and exceptionally attractive passage.
This new trail represents a functional and more naturally preserved alternative to the previous route that led from the village of Ravna, which in recent years has become difficult to pass due to overgrowth, erosion, and damage caused by fires. Many hikers and visitors have pointed out the difficulty of the old route, so the new section from Glogošnica has become a logical and safer solution.
Members of the Mountaineering Association “Prenj – Glogošnica 1979” cleaned, cleared, marked, and further maintained this section during the “Via Dinarica” camp held on May 10 and 11, 2025. They also installed signage and waymarkers along the entire trail, aiming to increase safety and make navigation easier for all hikers, adventurers, and visitors.
Thanks to this joint effort, the mountaineering community now has access to a more accessible and safer trail that offers unforgettable landscapes and a unique experience of being in nature.
The Via Dinarica project is implemented and co-financed by UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina, with financial support from AICS Tirana and the Embassy of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We extend our sincere thanks to our partner, the Mountaineering Association “Prenj – Glogošnica 1979” for their dedicated work in the field and continuous contribution to the development of sustainable mountain tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
