THE NEST BETWEEN ČVRSNICA AND PRENJ MOUNTAINS
Jablanica is among the smallest municipalities in our country, but this “shortcoming” is compensated by the breathtaking natural beauty that captivates tourists and instills pride in the people of Jablanica.
It is nestled between Čvrsnica and Prenj mountains, at an altitude of 202 meters. Besides the two mountains, there are also two lakes, Grabovica and Jablanica, and it is traversed by three rivers: Neretva, Doljanka, and Šanica.

The waters of these rivers are suitable for fishing and rafting, and their shores are perfect for camping and outings. Jablanica Lake is the emerald gem of our country, formed by damming the Neretva River with a monumental 85-meter high arch-gravity dam. Camping and glamping zones, well-maintained beaches, volleyball courts, and other sports facilities are attracting more and more young people to the lake. A night under the stars is an unforgettable experience, but if you still need a touch of comfort, glamping, or glamorous camping, is the right option for you. A campfire (with all precautions taken), a guitar, and good company by the lake, surrounded by mountains — what more could we wish for?
A Tale of the Black Stone
Did you know that a “piece” of Jablanica can be found in many places around the world? The renowned Jablanica granite is used to pave the squares of global metropolises, such as the plaza in front of the United Nations building in New York, and to adorn opera houses and town halls. Renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović described Jablanica granite as “indestructible, eternal, and more enduring than the basalt monuments of Nubia and the Egyptian pyramids”. It was he who crafted the famous Spomenik neznanom junaku (Monument to the Unknown Hero) in Belgrade, using Jablanica granite.
MOUNT PRENJ
Prenj, at whose foothills lie three cities — Mostar, Jablanica, and Konjic, is considered the most beautiful, attractive, yet also the harshest mountain in our country. Massive and commanding peaks with interesting names captivate with their elegance. We will mention Zelena Glava, which is the highest peak at 2,155 meters, Otiš, Mali Otiš, Veliki Botin, Mali Botin, Erać, Kerać, Mali Herać, Herać, Vidina Kapa, Velika Kapa... Each peak has its own story. Prenj is unique: it’s a mountain with personality and character.

Prenj is not the optimal choice for hiking beginners. When hiking eventually becomes a way of life and a special kind of love develops between a person and the mountains, Prenj unfolds its layers, showcasing all it has to offer, including its rich flora and fauna.
The works of human hands also come to light: mountain lodges, bivouacs, and shelters that have often been saving grace for hikers.

Hikers and excursionists can rest and take shelter from bad weather in the Mountain Hut Jezerce (Little Lake), in the bivouac Divova kuća (Giant’s House), and perhaps in the only police van in the world where one can feel happy and content — the shelter under the Vršine peak. With the help of a military helicopter that transported it to the mountain, Mostar mountaineers arranged and installed it in 1989 from a truck cabin donated by the Mostar police for transporting prisoners.
